Programs

To achieve our mission of helping kids succeed in life through sports, Mount Sterling Montgomery County Parks and Recreation provides a youth sports experience unlike any other teaching the importance of good sportsmanship on the field and in life. We believe the value we provide must go far beyond the sport itself. It must be about more than the rules of the game. About more than who plays what position. About more than the score. While sport offerings vary by age groups and seasons, MSMC Parks offers and supports baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, soccer, softball, tee ball and tennis programs.

Dates for all sports programs are subject to change based on COVID-19.

We’re pleased to announce our new and improved Flag Football Program. We are thrilled to be partnering with NFL Flag which is the largest youth flag football league in the U.S.  NFL Flag has more than 600,000 participants and it continues to evolve!

While youth participation in sports has declined 13 percent over the last decade, flag football has become one the fastest growing youth sports in the country. In fact, the number of 6-to-12-year-olds playing has increased by 38 percent, to more than 1.5 million, since 2015. And NFL FLAG is leading the way as the largest flag football league in the U.S., with more than 1,600 leagues in 50 states.

While partnering with NFL Flag, jerseys will have an NFL team on them and each child that signs up will also receive their own set of flags. We encourage you to follow the link from the NFL Flag site about the benefits and to learn more about our new program.

Swimming is a family participation sport!  In order for meets to happen, family members will have to volunteer.  Please understand that each family will be expected to provide volunteers multiple times through the season.

Our team philosophy is for EVERY swimmer to learn proper stroke technique, develop a love of the sport, and to have fun!  Summer swimming is all about learning something new with your friends while displaying team spirit and sportsmanship at all times.  The coaches can’t wait to get started!  Go Gators!

  • Meets are on Wednesday evenings beginning June 5th. Most of our meets are away due to the limitations of our pool, and we could be asked to travel throughout Central Kentucky, though the bulk of our meets will be in or around Lexington.
